Instead of one long review video, I thought I would start a new series of Quick Takes of my thoughts on different aspects of my 2008 Porsche Cayman. This first Quick Take I discuss my thoughts on the Cayman's manual transmission, seeing how this is my first manual car in about 7 years since switching to VW's awesome double clutch gearbox in my last two VW GTI's. http://chrisneuman.com http://facebook.com/chrisneuman http://twitter.com/chrisneuman http://instagram.com/chrisneuman
The 2014 Porsche Cayman is powered by a 2.7 liter 6-cylinder Boxer engine that produces 275 horsepower and 213 lb-ft. of torque. The car only weighs 2,888 lbs so the acceleration is brisk from a smaller displacement engine. The transmission is a 6-speed manual and 0-60 MPH times are better with the PDK trans. A best 0-60 MPH time of 5.5 seconds occurred with the Drive Mode set to "Sport" amd the Traction Control turned "Off". Presenting a thorough demonstration of a 2015 Porsche Cayman S with 6-speed manual transmission including Sport Chrono Package--including the rev-matching function--and Porsche Sport Exhaust. I demonstrate the automated blip of the throttle with SP engaged, showcase some audio differences with and without Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE) engaged, and finally demonstrate the function of hill hold assist, and auto restart upon stalling the engine. Finally at the point where I can remove the transmission. This entire episode is a how-to on removing the transmission from my 2000 Boxster S. Base Cayman w PDK vs Boxster S w 6MT. Driven full out. Following my friend, we see the base Cayman can keep up with the more powerful Boxster S. The Cayman has PDK, while the Boxster has a manual. First few minutes are under Yellow, sorry. * Check video resolution settings are at least 720p. Youtube seems to default my vids very low res.
New Cayman S nicely accelerating to its top speed using launch control and reaching almost 300 km/h when going downhill. Full review at http://www.Autoforum.cz/testy-aut/test-porsche-cayman-s-981-2013-zapomente-na-911/
